"I don't know enough to teach my own child."
This is the sentence that stops most families from starting at all. It's worth saying back: nobody knows everything their child will need to learn over the next ten years. No teacher does either. The teacher's actual job isn't to know the material — it's to set up the conditions where the learner discovers it, and to ask the right question when they get stuck. That is a thing you can do. You already do it, in the conversations you have at the kitchen table, in the questions your child asks on a walk, in the way you've helped them figure things out a hundred times already without calling it teaching.

No lab needed. No microscope needed. No tablets needed.
A worry that comes up early is that real learning needs equipment you don't have — a lab, a science kit, the right software. It doesn't. The lessons here are built so they work from where you actually are. A few of the things they already use:
- pH for kitchen science — vinegar, baking soda, red cabbage, a glass of water. A real chemistry lesson without anything bought.
- GPS for walks — your phone is the sensor. Map the walk, then ask what the data shows. A geography and maths lesson that happens outside.
- Sound for music — a microphone you already have, a glass with water, a guitar string, a voice. Frequency, amplitude, harmony, all of it observable.
- Light for the garden — sunlight through a window, a plant, a phone camera. Photosynthesis, time-lapse, real observation over a week.
- Synthetic sensor data when there's no kit at all — for the few lessons that do normally need a lab, the platform can generate realistic sensor readings so the conversation around the data still happens. The lesson runs; the equipment isn't the bottleneck.
The kitchen, the walk, the garden, the window — these aren't compromises against a "real" classroom. They're often where the better lesson is. A common second worry, after "am I qualified?", is "if I am the one teaching, am I capable of teaching this child specifically?" The honest answer: more capable than you think, because you already know them at a level no professional educator does. If a label hasn't been put on what's happening yet, that doesn't make your decision wrong. Home education is one of the few settings where you can shape the day around the child you actually have, while the diagnostic conversation, if there is one, runs in parallel without disrupting the learning.

The second worry that comes up, after "am I qualified?", is usually quieter: am I going to be alone in this? For yourself, and for your child. Will they make friends. Will I have anyone to ask when I'm stuck. Will I know if I'm getting it wrong.
Every lesson on the platform carries the notes of the parent or teacher who ran it before — including the parts that went wrong. Not just "here's how it's supposed to go." Also: "my daughter lost interest at this step, so I switched the order of the next two and it landed", or "the cabbage water was too dilute the first time, here's the ratio that worked". The wrong turns are valuable. They tell you what to expect, and they tell you that everyone has them. You're not the first person to misjudge how much red cabbage to use.
For the child, the question of "will they make friends" is real and worth taking seriously. Home education in 2026 isn't isolation — there are groups, co-ops, weekend STEM centres, online classmates working through the same lessons.
